M&O crush, part 1 : Nordal

As you know, I was at Maison et Objet exhibition in Paris last January. I wouldn't say I was happily surprised by this exhibition. I was expecting a bigger "wow" factor, and to discover more new future trends in interior design. It just didn't happen for me. Don't get me wrong : everything is there, but not much more than what we've already seen on the blogosphere or on magazines... Except for a few nice, very nice discoveries and crushes... Enters my first big crush : Nordal.

Nordal is a Danish family owned business where good design meets functionality - add to the equation affordable prices. I am in love with the Industrial meets Ethnic meets Scandinavian feel of their line, and their booth at Maison et Objets was just pure magic. Nice products, great textures and contrasts and super friendly team!

Black and white

Black and white house, with a nice twist.

At home with Alessandra

Alessandra lives in Milan [swoon], in this 1930s flat that she spent months remodeling to her taste. Many of the furniture, objects and even materials, like the bathroom tiles come from street markets in Italy and abroad. Alessandra did not rush furnishing and accessorizing her house, and as a result, there is a strong sense of collected treasures and thoroughly thought design around her dreamy flat...

{from my bar}

This Sunday has gone by very quickly! After 14 fun filled hours of measuring, cataloging and photographing items for an upcoming One Kings Lane Bloggers Tastemaker sale I have finally found a moment to relax and make a little evening visit to my bar (filled with items that may just be included in the sale!)
I am also especially in love with the idea of using a brilliantly colored "casket" box for calling cards!
Have a lovely evening and I will be back with fresh inspiration tomorrow!

Injured Angry Birds

DeviantArt user Scooterek created some paintings of the famous birds dealing with the aftermath of their mission to rescue their eggs from the mean green pigs by being launched in a slingshot!

Framing Art

Not with gilded framing but with architecture! A great piece of art is a wonderful focal point through an opening or in a niche. I was recently reminded of this while going through images I had taken with my phone: the one in question is this image from the Renwick Gallery. Operated by the Smithsonian and located across the street from the White House, it was the first art museum built in the country.

Thanks, Friday!
